Once Upon a Time in the Forest is a scripted Western inspired by documentary footage from filmmakers Jocy and Milsinho Guajajara. Set in the Amazon indigenous reserves of Northern Brazil, it depicts the coming together of the Guajajara people to guard their territory against illegal loggers and farmers.
The film is co-directed by Daniel Florêncio and Indigenous Brazilian filmmaker Takumã Kuikuro, and produced by Gabriel Uchida, Cacique Antônio Wilson Guajajara, Nefeli Zygopoulou and Daniel Florêncio. Supported by Hivos: People Unlimited.
