The UK Global Screen Fund supports UK international co-productions and companies with ambitious global reach. Their support for In the Black — a fictional feature weaving dramatisation and archive footage to tell the story of Denham Jolly's 12-year struggle to establish the first Black-owned radio station in Canada — further establishes our footprint in the international film industry.
The film stars David Harewood and is directed by Frances-Anne Solomon. It is produced by Nicole Brooks, with Daniel Florêncio and Nefeli Zygopoulou as associate producers. Primary funding comes from Telefilm Canada, Ontario Creates, Canada Media Fund and CBC. Canadian distribution is handled by Photon Films.
The film is currently in post-production.
